We propose the Commission prolong the Energy Platform for one year while assessing its impact

In line with our position paper on the extension of AggregateEU, Eurogas has signed a joint letter directed to DG ENER along with six other associations calling on the Commission to not make emergency measures permanent.

While we commend the Commission for having developed and implemented a functioning platform within a very short timeframe, there is a lack of data justifying making it permanent. The European gas market, driven by competition, should determine whether and how companies cooperate for joint gas purchasing. Without sufficient data backing the permanence of the Energy Platform, it could in turn distort the market to embed it in EU regulation.

Thus, we propose the Commission prolong the measures related to joint purchasing and demand aggregation for one more year, allowing for a proper impact assessment of the functioning and effectiveness of the Platform.
