In the European Union, the imperative of energy security means that Europe is looking at gas from the United States as a viable energy source, with a specific interest in US liquified natural gas, or LNG. But equally, in the EU and beyond we are looking to decarbonise along the gas supply chain and obtain the cleanest molecules possible. Reducing methane emissions is key to this. That’s why we spoke to Will Foiles of US-based company Project Canary. We talked about why it matters to measure and monitor methane emissions, and the regulation and technology we need to make this happen.
