The cooperation between all energy related sectors, from production to end-users, is crucial to reach climate neutrality in 2050 EU’s objectives as well as intermediary 2040 target.
The webinar “Industry contribution to 2040 targets strategy through reinforced sector integration” organised by ENZA on Tuesday 14 May 2024 (14:30-15:45 CEST, Zoom) will shed light on the benefits of multi-energy and sector-integrated systems (combining power, heat and other fuels) to deliver a cost-efficient energy transition and accelerate the integration of renewables into our energy system.

The event will also highlight opportunities for European industries to mitigate their CO2 emissions and contribute to Europe’s net-zero emissions target.

    Antoine Hoxha has been working for the association since 2010, playing an active role in driving industry’s decarbonization efforts.Before joining Fertilizers Europe, he worked for 8 years in the fertilizers industry where he held positions in R&D and licensing. Prior to that, he was a teaching assistant at the University of Liège (BE) and at Warwick University (UK). Antoine holds a PhD in Chemistry from University of Liège as well as an Executive MBA from Louvain School of Management and has completed the Certificate in International Association Management from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and ManagementAntoine speaks French, Albanian, English, Portuguese and Italian.

    Boyana Achovski

    Secretary General, Gas Infrastructure Europe

    Boyana Achovski has been the Secretary-General of GIE since 2016. Boyana
    started her European affairs career in the European Parliament in Brussels and
    led the Analysis and International Operations Division in Bulgartransgaz, later
    joining GIE in 2012 as the first secondment of the Bulgarian gas infrastructure
    operator to the European association. She also chaired the Steering Committee
    of GasNaturally twice, the coalition of Europe’s whole gas value chain.

    Boyana graduated in International Economic Affairs, specializing in
    International Finance. She holds a master’s degree in finance and management of
    international Associations from the Solvay Brussels School. She also obtained a
    certificate in women’s leadership from the University of Oxford.

    In 2023, Boyana won the award of the most influential Energy Women
    Leader of Central & Eastern Europe. Committed to advocating for greater
    gender equality and diversity in the energy transition, she is a Member of the
    Board of WiRA (Women in Renewables Alliance), a global network of professional
    women in the renewable energy sector and is part of WoNY, an alliance promoting
    gender diversity in the CEE-SEE region.

  • Catharina Sikow-Magny

    Catharina Sikow-Magny

    Director, DG ENER, European Commission

    Catharina Sikow-Magny joined the European Commission in 1997 and is currently the Director responsible for Green Transition and Energy System Integration in the Directorate General for Energy. Before that, she was the Head of Unit in charge of Consumers, Local Initiatives, Just Transition. Before that she was the Head of Unit responsible for Networks and Regional Initiatives. She has as well worked on international transport, trans-European network policy and financing, internalisation of external costs, and strategic policy research.

    Before joining the Commission, Catharina Sikow-Magny was a team leader and chief economist in the private sector in Finland. She has also worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She holds a Master of Economics degree from the Aalto University, Finland.

    Frauke Thies

    Managing Director, Agora Think Tanks

    As of
    July 2022, Frauke Thies heads Agora Think Tanks (Agora Energiewende, Agora
    Industry and Agora Agriculture) as Executive Director and in a dual leadership
    with Markus Steigenberger. Thies is an expert of European energy and climate
    policy and therefore strengthens Agora’s European profile.

    Frauke
    Thies was previously responsible for the climate portfolio of the Open Society
    Foundations in Europe. Prior to that, she worked in European associations for
    eight years, including as Executive Director of the European business
    association for digital and decentralised energy solutions, smartEn, from 2015
    to 2020, and as Policy Director at SolarPower Europe from 2012 to 2015. Thies
    started her career at the environmental organisation Greenpeace, where she held
    various positions in EU energy policy from 2005 to 2012, with secondments to
    the USA and India. Thies holds a Master of Environmental Sciences from the
    University of Lüneburg and a Master of Business Administration from Vlerick
    Business School in Belgium.

    also serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Climate Economics
    I4CE, the Advisory Council of Aurora Energy Research and the Strategic Advisory
    Council of EnergyVille.

    Giulia Cancian

    Chair of ENZA and Secretary General of the European Biogas Association

    Giulia Cancian is the Secretary General at
    the European Biogas association. Before joining the EBA in 2022, Giulia led
    Bioenergy Europe’s advocacy strategy, coordinated the delivery of policy
    reports, and the organization of several working groups.  She gained
    experience on sustainability, energy and transports working with the biodiesel,
    non-ferrous metals and hydropower European trade associations in Brussels.
    Giulia holds a MA in International Relation from the University of Rome and a
    MSc in European Affairs from the Free University of Brussels

    Pedro Dias

    Policy Director, Solar Heat Europe

    Pedro Dias is a
    passionate advocate for the decarbonisation of heating and cooling systems. As
    the former Secretary General of ESTIF and current Policy Director at Solar Heat
    Europe, he has been devoted to advancing the potential of solar thermal energy in
    Europe. With a background in gas retail and heating equipment
    commercialisation, among other experiences, Pedro brings a wealth of experience
    from both the non-governmental and private sectors. Holding a management
    degree, he combines his expertise with strategic thinking to drive
    collaboration towards a sustainable future, based on a multi-technology
    approach to the energy transition.
