MEP Pilar del Castillo Vera

Pilar del Castillo is Member of the European Parliament at the Committee on Industry, Digital, and Energy (ITRE).  Del Castillo’s parliamentary work has been very focused on energy policy, industry and digitalisation.

 During the 2019-2024 legislature, she has actively participated on the reform of the Electricity Market, the Renewable Energy Directive, the Energy Efficiency Directive, the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive and the Gas and Hydrogen Package, among other dossiers.

 In relation to industrial policy, she has participated in the legislative processes of the Net Zero Industry Regulation, the Critical Raw Materials Regulation and the European Chips Act. Regarding digital policy, she has been the European Parliament's rapporteur on the Data Act; the European Electronic Communications Code; the Telecoms Single Market Regulation.

 Del Castillo is vice-president of European Energy Forum (EEF), former chair of the European Internet Foundation, and co-chair of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN).

 Pilar del Castillo is former Minister of Education and Culture (2000/2004) and former President of the Centre for Sociological Research (1996/2000) of Spain.

Del Castillo is full Professor in Political Sciences and Administration.

 Currently, she is the EPP Shadow Rapporteur for the INI Report 'Security of Energy Supply'
