Irina Kustova

Irina Kustova is a Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), specialising in energy and climate policy. Irina's expertise lies in energy transition and security, with a particular focus on EU energy markets, renewables adoption, and climate diplomacy. With over a decade of professional experience, Irina provides research and advisory services to EU institutions, including the European Commission (DG ENER, DG CLIMA, FPI), and the European Parliament (ITRE, FEMM), as well as international organisations.
Her analysis and expert opinions are frequently sought after by prominent media outlets and academic institutions. Irina is a published author in refereed journals and a regular speaker at conferences and events organised by, among others, Euractiv, IAI, SWP, and the Clean Energy Summit. Before joining CEPS, she conducted consultancy work and held assignments at ACER and the Energy Charter Secretariat. Irina holds a Ph.D. in International Studies (cum laude) from the University of Trento (Italy) and an MA in European Studies from Maastricht University (Netherlands).
