Eurogas Welcomes New Member: Cespira
Stronger together
The transition to low-carbon transport requires collaboration, innovation, and scalable climate technologies. At Cespira, we are dedicated to accelerating the decarbonization of heavy transport by designing, engineering, and manufacturing modular alternative fuel systems that seamlessly integrate into the existing architecture of trucks. By leveraging proven engine technology, our solutions enable the use of low carbon and carbon-neutral fuels such as hydrogen and biomethane, eliminating the need for a complete overhaul of current vehicle platforms.
Born from Expertise, Driven by Innovation
Cespira was founded as an independent company through a joint venture between Volvo Group and Westport Fuel Systems—two industry leaders committed to sustainable transport solutions. While Cespira is new, our expertise is built on a solid foundation. Westport Fuel Systems has been at the forefront of gaseous fuel technology for years, including as a former member of NGVA Europe.
As the new home of the HPDITM technology, Cespira’s mission is to expand the market deployment of HPDI in the heavy duty vehicle market in Europe and globally, working closely with its parent companies and new partners from across the OEM community.
Why join Eurogas?
Joining Eurogas is a natural step for Cespira. With a long history of engagement through its parent companies, we recognise the value Eurogas brings in strengthening industry collaboration and advocating for a supportive and technology-neutral policy landscape, with the goal of accelerating the adoption of low carbon and renewable fuels in Europe’s heavy duty transport sector.
Together, we are shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future for heavy transport.
The European Union has set ambitious targets to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with interim goals of a 55% reduction by 2030 and a further 90% reduction by 2040. At Cespira, we firmly believe that gaseous fuels—including biomethane and hydrogen—will play a vital role in achieving these targets while ensuring a cost-effective, high-performance, and scalable transition for the heavy transport sector.
With thousands of HPDI™-powered trucks already in operation, Cespira is proving that alternative fuels are a viable, scalable, and high-performance solution for heavy transport.
