Policy Advisor, Distribution and Methane Emissions Management

Contract terms: Indefinite, full time, based in Brussels (Belgium)

About Eurogas:

Eurogas is an association of over one hundred companies and associations across Europe and beyond, spanning the entire length of the gases value chain. Its members cover wholesale and retail gas markets, the distribution of natural, renewable and low carbon gases and their derivatives and the use of gases in transport, heating and other end-use sectors.

Eurogas is committed to accelerate the transition to climate neutrality through dialogue and advocacy on optimising the use of gases. Together with its members it produces research, responds to consultations, provides input to studies, analyses the impact of EU political and legislative initiatives, and communicates key findings to EU stakeholders. An established structure of expertise ensures that Eurogas’ views are defined and endorsed by experts in the energy field.

We advocate for an approach ensuring an environmentally sustainable and socially acceptable energy transition while guaranteeing Security of Supply. With appropriate incentives in place, EU gas demand can be fully decarbonised already before 2050.

We are looking for a Policy Advisor to cover distribution and methane emissions management topics.

Key responsibilities:

• Being the go-to person for all matters relevant for Distribution System Operators – for natural, renewable and low carbon gases – and for Methane Emissions Management
• Collaborating closely with Eurogas team/members, external stakeholders and partner organisations
• Being the voice of Eurogas at meetings with policy makers, events, and stakeholder coalitions
• Drafting position papers and recommendations on EU legislative proposals and briefings for internal and external distribution. Develop and implement subsequent advocacy strategies
• Keeping on top of, monitoring, tracking, and analysing EU policy developments

What we are looking for:

• Experience in the energy sector and an understanding about the role of Distribution System Operators and about Methane Emissions Management is a strong advantage
• We are looking for someone who is eager and capable of delving deeply into their area of responsibility, with a commitment to mastering the subject matter and becoming a recognised expert in their field
• You’re independent, a self-starter and a good team player with an attention to detail
• You have good project management skills, can manage meetings and respect deadlines
• You’re ready to jump on a wide range of tasks and take the lead on specific projects
• You have an excellent command of English (oral and written)
• You’re eligible to work in Belgium
