Annual Regional Conference

The Eurogas Annual Regional Conference 'Advancing security, delivering sustainability: Romania’s role in building a resilient and competitive energy transition in Eastern Europe' organised in cooperation with the Energy Employers’ Federation (FPE), Romania, will focus on national and regional perspectives on the EU Security of Supply Framework and EU Methane Regulation, as well as what future role Romania can play in boosting Europe's security and affordability of supply.

Speakers will also explore existing, potential frameworks and incentives for scaling up renewable and low-carbon technologies in the region, and ultimately delivering an inclusive and competitive energy transition.

Oana Ijdelea is the founder and managing partner of Ijdelea & Associates. With 20 years of experience as a business lawyer, she routinely advises clients on the most challenging and strategic matters involving C-Suite decision making related to their investments, projects and operations in Romania, and boasts a notable track record of successfully leading significant advocacy efforts, spanning across a wide spectrum of industries.  

Throughout hear career, Oana has been involved in complex project development and business transactions performed in some of the most highly-regulated sectors, where compliance with the law and applicable regulations is most critical, most closely-monitored, and most strictly enforced. She is recognized as a substantial contributor to the drafting of legislation regulating a broad range of industries and areas, as well as to the transposing of EU legislation into domestic law. 

Oana’s expertise is complemented by a multifaceted board experience, covering strategic energy companies (Black Sea Oil & Gas), industry associations (The Romanian Wind Energy Association and The Energy Employer’s Federation), professional bodies (The National Union of Romanian Bars) and NGOs (HOSPICE – Casa Sperantei and The Friends of the National Museum of Art of Romania).

Răzvan Popescu
Chief Executive Officer, Romgaz

Răzvan POPESCU holds a Master in Sciences (Msc Investment Management) at Bayes Business School London and is PhD student in Economy at Bucharest University of Economic Studies. He started his career in 2007 working for 9 years in one of the most precious Romanian financial institutions – the Romanian National Bank as Portfolio Manager, responsible with managing the foreign exchange reserve. Mr. POPESCU is member of the Oil and Gas Employer’s Federation (FPPG) Directorate and representative member of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP), the international oil industry forum. As of August 2022, Mr. POPESCU is Chief Executive Officer of the largest natural gas producer in Romania – SNGN ROMGAZ SA, after acting for two years as Chief Financial Officer. He coordinated from a financial standpoint the most important transaction in the history of the Romanian energy sector for the last 30 years, namely purchase of Exxon participating interest in Neptun Deep block in the Black Sea and its financing. Under his mandate, in the context of the inaugural EUR 1 billion bond issuance carried out by a majority state-owned Romanian company, ROMGAZ was awarded, for the first time, a ‘BBB-’ rating with a stable outlook by the international rating agency Fitch. The rating reflects the Company’s successful EUR 1 billion bond issuance to support the development of the Neptun Deep project.

Rossen Papazov

Rossen Papazov is the CEO of Holcim Bulgaria, bringing over 20 years of executive experience within the Holcim Group across the cement, aggregates, and ready-mix concrete industries. Recognized for driving growth and championing decarbonization strategies, his extensive leadership background includes CEO roles at Lafarge South Africa and Holcim Azerbaijan, as well as senior management positions in Holcim Belgium and Holcim Romania. Earlier in his career, Papazov worked as a financial expert for the World Bank in Eastern Europe. He holds an MBA from IMD Business School (Switzerland) and a Master’s in Finance from the University of National and World Economy (Bulgaria). He sits on the Board of the Bulgarian Cement Industry Association.
