Ana Díaz Vázquez
Dr. Diaz is an energy expert with over 20 years of experience leading international teams and projects, applying science and innovation to accelerate the low-carbon energy transition. She has designed national and regional energy strategies and developed decarbonization plans for industry.
She holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dresden, Germany, and a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy. Her academic career included six years of energy science and technology research at institutions in Germany, Italy, and the USA.
Dr. Diaz spent nine years in the industrial renewable energy sector, where she served as Executive Director of Technology for a world-leading NASDAQ- and IBEX 35-listed company. Her contributions were instrumental in advancing cutting-edge renewable energy solutions.
She then spent six years as a Senior Energy Officer at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), providing expert scientific and technical advice on energy, transport, and climate policies. In this role, she played a key part in shaping the European Union’s pathway toward a carbon-neutral society.
For the past three years, Dr. Diaz has focused on mobilizing capital for sustainable and climate-resilient solutions. She has led the technical development and delivery of energy transition standards and worked as an international consultant for the United Nations. She is also a faculty member for the Sustainability Program at IE Business School.
