Total gas consumption in Europe’s 27 Member States has witnessed a drop in demand for the second year running with power generation the worst affected. According to latest estimates from Eurogas, total demand was down 2.2% in 2012 in addition to the 10% decline in 2011.

Gas demand in Europe is expected to remain relatively stable in 2012 overall compared with 2011, according to the latest forecast from Eurogas. However a 2% drop in demand was recorded in the first half of 2012 compared with the same period in 2011.
Brussels, 29 March 2012 - According to preliminary figures and estimates from Eurogas, total natural gas consumption in EU27 decreased by 10.7% in 2011 in comparison with 2010.
