Total gas consumption in Europe’s 28 Member States has decreased for the third year running. According to latest estimates from Eurogas, total demand was down 1.4% in 2013, following the 10% and 2% decline in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Overall in 2013, gas demand remained under pressure predominantly due to reduced usage in the power sector.

Gas demand across the European Union is expected to remain relatively stable in 2013 compared with 2012, according to the latest forecast from Eurogas. An increase in demand of 2.6% was recorded in the first half of 2013 compared with the same period in 2012.
