Energy Podium Debate: What will the European Energy Union look like?

Hosted by the President of Eurogas and CEO of GasTerra, Gertjan Lankhorst, this debate will focus on the concept of Energy Union and address the following questions:

  • Does Europe have to choose between the Energy Union and its free gas market?
  • What can new infrastructure projects contribute to an increased security of supply for Middle and Eastern Europe?
  • How will the implementation of the 2030 Climate and Energy Framework be achieved through the energy union?

Eurogas workshop "Gas – now and in the future"

This workshop provides the occasion to launch of the Eurogas Statistical Report 2014 and consider the key role that gas can play in the heating and transport sectors, now and in the future.

Anne Braaksma, GasTerra will present the latest edition of Statistical Report, while providing an analysis of the key trends in the gas industry to date. Eva Hennig, Thüga, will consider the important role that gas can play in the heating sector particularly in the framework of the recent policy direction set by the European Council. For the third session, we are joined by Lennart Pilskog, Secretary General of the NGVA Europe who will set out the potential for gas in transport highlighting how it can help Europe reach its 2030 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target.

The workshop will bring together officials, industry representatives, heating and transport specialists to debate and develop answers that will be helpful to those who have to take relevant decisions.

Conference on EU Energy Union - How to shape Energy Policy so as to boost European competitiveness?

This conference will offer the opportunity to analyse and discuss components of an EU energy Union that is able to contribute to boosting European industrial competitiveness. Among other topics, the following will be developed: economic, financial and technological conditions required to develop renewable energy and other domestic energy resources in order to reduce European dependence on third-country suppliers; completion and improvement of the functioning of the EU internal energy market; EU emissions trading system (ETS).
